The Foundation of Greater Jainta organized a reception in New York City to honor Bangladesh’s Expatriate Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, who also serves as a Member of Parliament for the Sylhet-4 constituency.
The event was held on Thursday night at the Nabananna Party Center in Jackson Heights, bringing together members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community for a reception and interactive discussion session. Participants exchanged views on diaspora-related issues and local community concerns.
In his keynote remarks, Expatriate Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury said the government is actively working for the welfare of expatriates and placing special emphasis on expanding skilled manpower export. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to curb exploitation by broker syndicates and improve monitoring systems. Additionally, he discussed initiatives aimed at simplifying the repatriation process of deceased expatriates and strengthening support mechanisms for migrant workers.
The event was presided over by Foundation president Rashid Ahmed and conducted by general secretary Jamil Ansari. Special guests included advisory members Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury Khasru and Maulana Zakaria Mahmood, senior vice president Burhan Uddin, joint general secretary Syed Ali, along with other prominent community leaders and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora.
The reception concluded with a reaffirmation of continued engagement between expatriate communities and government representatives to address welfare and employment-related issues.
