Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have held talks focusing on mediation efforts to ease ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The meeting took place in Muscat, the capital of Oman, according to Oman’s state news agency, as reported by Al Jazeera on Sunday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the regional situation and possible ways to reduce tensions involving Iran, particularly in the context of ongoing friction with the United States and Israel.

Oman has been playing a mediating role since the escalation of the conflict. The country has not only facilitated dialogue efforts but has also described joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran as illegal and a source of regional instability.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has continued his recent diplomatic outreach, holding separate phone conversations with the foreign ministers of Egypt and Turkey.

According to Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Araghchi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty exchanged views on diplomacy, a potential ceasefire, and the latest developments in the Middle East.

He also spoke by phone with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, although no further details were disclosed by Iranian officials.
