Jalalabad Summer Bazaar’ Fair Held in New York

The “Jalalabad Summer Bazaar” fair was held in Jackson Heights, New York, in a festive atmosphere on Saturday, organized by the Jalalabad Association of America Inc.

The daylong fair featured a variety of activities, including cultural performances and a raffle draw. Local businesses took part in the event showcasing collections of Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani clothing, along with luxury apparel, children’s wear and everyday clothing.

A range of products was also offered at special sale prices, giving visitors an opportunity to purchase various items at discounted rates.

The cultural program added to the festive atmosphere, with artists performing music and other cultural presentations for the expatriate audience. The raffle draw was another attraction of the event, with participants joining in the celebrations with enthusiasm and excitement.

Former Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen attended the event. In his remarks, he called on Bangladeshis living at home and abroad to preserve and promote Bengali culture, heritage and traditions.

Speakers at the event urged members of the Jalalabad community living abroad to remain united and support one another. They said members of the diaspora should stand together behind the organization and work to further strengthen the community by electing capable leadership.

Candidates and supporters of the Selim-Ali panel and the Kunu-Firoz panel, contesting the upcoming Bangladesh Society election, were also present at the event. They sought votes from community members and expressed their commitment to continuing to work for the welfare of the Bangladeshi community in the diaspora.

The event was successfully organized with the involvement of Convener Sheikh Jamal Hossain, Chief Convener Layes Ahmed, Chief Coordinator Moin Uz Zaman Chowdhury and Member Secretary Helim Uddin, along with other organizers and volunteers.

At the conclusion of the fair, Moinul Islam, president of the organizing association, and General Secretary Ataul Gani Asad expressed their gratitude to journalists, artists, performers, volunteers and guests who traveled from different areas to attend the event and contribute to its success.
