U.S. forces have conducted an operation against the sanctioned oil tanker M/T Tiffany in the Asia-Pacific region. The Pentagon said the move is part of ongoing global maritime enforcement efforts targeting vessels that support Iran.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Pentagon said operations against sanctioned ships and illicit networks providing material support to Iran will continue. It emphasized that such actions will be carried out wherever these vessels operate.
International sanctions on Iran’s oil transport and financial transactions have been in place for years. The United States alleges that these vessels are being used to bypass sanctions and continue covert oil trade.
The latest operation has raised concerns over maritime security and key global trade routes in the Asia-Pacific region. Previously, the U.S. carried out similar operations in strategic waterways including the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
