Delaware, United States: One person was killed and another injured in a shooting at a hospital in the U.S. state of Delaware on Tuesday afternoon. Police later arrested a 23-year-old suspect in neighboring Pennsylvania, according to NBC News.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time at ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and located two victims with gunshot wounds. The suspected gunman had fled before officers arrived.

Wilmington Police Chief Wilfredo Campos told reporters that authorities were withholding the identities of the victims, as well as details about the injured person’s condition, out of respect for their families.

Several hours after the incident, law enforcement officials announced the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The suspect, who is from New Castle, Delaware, was taken into custody without incident and is expected to face formal charges.

According to preliminary findings, investigators believe the shooting was a targeted and isolated attack rather than a random act of violence. Police said there is currently no indication of an ongoing threat to the wider public.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident and are continuing to gather evidence. Wilmington police said additional details, including the specific charges against the suspect, will be released as the investigation progresses.

The shooting has once again drawn attention to security concerns at healthcare facilities across the United States, where incidents of workplace and public violence have become an increasing concern in recent years.
