Eleven people were shot in an incident near a university stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday night. The shooting occurred near Bragg Memorial Stadium at Florida A&M University. The grandmother of one of the victims was also injured while fleeing the scene.
Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said six of the victims were minors, including an 11-year-old child. One victim was in critical condition, three were seriously injured, and eight were in stable condition. A university student was also among those injured.
Police believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute involving two or three individuals. However, the motive and the identities of those involved remain unclear. The department’s violent crimes unit is investigating the incident.
The shooting took place several hours after a football game held at the stadium as part of the university’s homecoming celebrations. Authorities have not established whether the incident was connected to the game.
University officials said the investigation was ongoing in the surrounding area and urged the public to avoid the scene while police continued their work.
