2 Killed in Shooting at Seattle Food Festival

At least two people were killed in a shooting at a popular food festival in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday, while four others, including a two-year-old child, were wounded and taken to hospital.

The shooting occurred on Sunday evening during the annual Bite of Seattle festival at Seattle Center. Panic erupted as gunfire rang out, sending festival-goers running for safety. Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots in quick succession.

The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that two victims died at the scene. The injured were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Doctors said one of the injured, an adult woman, remains in critical condition.

Police have not yet released any information about a suspect or a possible motive. Authorities, along with the FBI, are continuing their investigation. As a precaution, Seattle Center Monorail service was temporarily suspended following the incident.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, the latest shooting brings the number of mass shootings in the United States this year to at least 271.
