Kuwait has temporarily shut its airspace amid rising tensions in the Middle East. The country’s Civil Aviation Authority said the decision was taken as a precaution due to security concerns linked to the possibility of Iranian aggression, according to Al Jazeera.

In a statement shared on social media on Thursday, the authority said that all air traffic in Kuwaiti airspace will remain suspended until further notice. Flights that were scheduled to pass through Kuwait’s airspace will be rerouted to alternative airports or redirected along different flight paths.

The statement also noted that arrangements have been made to divert flights to alternate destinations in line with approved international agreements and safety procedures.

Meanwhile, deteriorating security conditions across the region and recent military tensions involving Iran have prompted several aviation authorities to closely monitor the situation. Officials warn that if the conflict expands further, international air travel routes across the Middle East could face significant disruption.

Kuwait authorities said a decision on reopening the airspace will be made once the situation stabilizes.
