Indian Air Force AN-32 Aircraft Crashes in Assam

An Antonov AN-32 transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed while attempting to land at the Air Force Station in Jorhat, Assam, on Saturday morning. The aircraft reportedly went down within the airbase premises and caught fire after the impact, according to NDTV.

Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft lost control during landing and crashed inside the military facility. Emergency response teams rushed to the scene shortly after the accident and began efforts to contain the fire.

The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Authorities have also not released any immediate information regarding casualties or injuries.

In a statement, the Indian Air Force said it is aware of the incident and will provide further details after assessing the situation. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.

The AN-32 is a twin-engine military transport aircraft developed in the former Soviet Union to meet India’s operational requirements. It has served as one of the Indian Air Force’s primary transport platforms for decades, with around 100 aircraft of this type currently in service.
