U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that Iran’s current leadership has never faced an American president like Donald Trump, describing him as a leader who is willing to take action when necessary.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News on Saturday, Rubio said he believes Iran’s ruling establishment is confronting a U.S. president who follows through on his decisions rather than relying solely on rhetoric.

Rubio also accused Iran of repeatedly avoiding accountability over the past two to three decades. He argued that not only the United States but also much of the international community had allowed Tehran to evade responsibility for actions such as violating agreements, employing deceptive tactics, and failing to honor its commitments.

Addressing the Russia-Ukraine war, Rubio said efforts could be made to restart peace negotiations between the two sides in the coming weeks. However, he noted that both Moscow and Kyiv continue to hold firm “red lines,” making it difficult to reach a settlement unless those positions become more aligned.

Commenting on U.S.-China relations, Rubio warned that any economic or military conflict between the world’s two largest economies would have devastating consequences not only for the United States and China but also for the global economy and international stability.

“We have to manage this relationship carefully,” Rubio said, adding that the United States must also remain committed to protecting its national interests, calling it one of the greatest challenges in foreign policy.
