Sylhet-Born Mohini Rashid Serves as Senior NYPD Officer, Inspires Bangladeshi-American Community

Mohini Rashid, a Sylhet-born Bangladeshi-American, is serving as a senior officer with the New York City Police Department (NYPD), marking a significant achievement for the Bangladeshi diaspora in the United States.

Rashid traces her roots to the historic Ikrichoi Mirza Bari in Jagannathpur Upazila of Sunamganj district, Bangladesh. She is the daughter of Mirza Mamun Rashid, a prominent New York-based businessman, community leader, and the first elected Bangladeshi-American Judicial Delegate in New York State.

She is currently assigned to the NYPD Manhattan North Narcotics Division , where she plays a key role in combating drug-related crimes, maintaining public safety, and supporting law enforcement operations across the communities under her jurisdiction.

Prior to her current assignment, Rashid served with distinction at the 34th Precinct, where she worked as a patrol officer. During her tenure, she gained extensive frontline policing experience while building strong relationships with local residents through community-oriented policing and public engagement.

Rashid is also a proud member of the Bangladeshi-American Police Association. Recognized for her professionalism, dedication, and leadership, she has emerged as an inspiring role model for the younger generation of Bangladeshi-Americans aspiring to careers in public service and law enforcement.
