Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is “completely healthy,” dismissing concerns about his physical condition.

Pezeshkian made the remarks after holding a nearly seven-hour meeting with Khamenei. According to semi-official Tasnim News Agency, cited by TRT World on Monday, August 10, the meeting focused on a range of domestic challenges and issues affecting people’s daily lives.

Pezeshkian said he discussed his concerns and various problems with the Supreme Leader during the meeting. Khamenei listened to him normally and offered the necessary advice, he said.

“There is no reason for concern about the Supreme Leader’s health,” Pezeshkian said.

Iran’s official IRNA news agency had earlier reported that Khamenei and Pezeshkian held a nearly seven-hour meeting to discuss the country’s major challenges. According to Pezeshkian, maintaining national unity and cohesion was the most important advice given by the Supreme Leader.

The meeting also focused on living standards, employment and housing conditions. The two leaders also discussed problems arising from international sanctions against Iran.

The meeting came amid prolonged tensions between Iran and the United States. The situation escalated further in February when the United States and Israel launched a joint military campaign against Iran. Iran responded by targeting US military installations in several parts of the Middle East.

In April, Tehran and Washington agreed to a ceasefire. In June, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending military confrontation and paving the way for a long-term peace agreement.

However, the agreement collapsed last month, sending tensions between the two sides back toward conflict. Iran and the United States exchanged attacks for nearly two weeks. Amid efforts to negotiate an end to the fighting, US President Donald Trump unexpectedly ordered a halt to the attacks.

Against this backdrop, Pezeshkian’s public statement about Khamenei’s health is being viewed as a significant message amid ongoing speculation over Iran’s internal situation and the country’s leadership.
