Saudi Arabia Issues Red Alert for Heavy Rain in Makkah

Saudi Arabia has issued its highest-level weather warning for the Makkah region, with authorities forecasting heavy rainfall and potentially severe weather conditions.

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) issued the “Red Alert” as heavy rain is expected across several parts of the region. The Civil Defense urged residents to remain vigilant and follow all safety instructions issued by the authorities.

Residents have also been advised to stay away from flooded areas, valleys and locations near dams, where sudden flooding could pose a serious risk.

The NCM’s Red Alert represents the highest level of weather warning and is issued when extreme weather conditions are expected that could threaten public safety and property.

The Makkah region has experienced unstable weather in recent days, with varying levels of rainfall reported in several areas.

Earlier on August 21, the NCM issued weather warnings for Al-Ardiyat and Al-Qunfudhah, forecasting heavy rain along with strong winds, hail, thunderstorms and the possibility of flash floods.

Authorities are urging residents and visitors to exercise caution and avoid potentially dangerous areas as the adverse weather conditions continue.
