Tensions in the Middle East are rising, as an Iraq-based armed group has claimed at least 23 attacks on US military bases across the region within the past 24 hours.

Saraya Awliya al-Dam said it carried out at least five of those হামলা targeting US bases in Iraq. In a statement, the group, which identifies itself as part of the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq,” made the claim, according to Al Jazeera.

The statement added that a total of 23 operations were conducted against US bases both داخل Iraq and across the region during the same period. The group also claimed that dozens of drones were used in the attacks. However, there was no immediate independent confirmation of casualties or damage.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has addressed the American public in an open letter. Published on social media platform X on Wednesday night, he questioned whether the Trump administration’s war truly aligns with the “America First” policy, Reuters reported.

In the letter, Pezeshkian directly asked US citizens what national interest is being served through this conflict. He claimed that, in modern history, Iran has never pursued aggression, expansionism, or colonialism, nor initiated any war.

He further said that portraying Iran as a threat serves the political and economic interests of powerful actors in global politics. He also pointed to the US military presence in countries neighboring Iran as a source of rising tensions.

Pezeshkian described Iran’s daily drone and missile strikes on civilian and military infrastructure in the Gulf region as “legitimate self-defense.”
