At least nine people have been killed in a shooting at a school in southern Turkey. The victims include eight students and one teacher. Thirteen others were injured, several of them critically, according to Euronews.
Authorities said the attacker was a 14-year-old eighth-grade student. He used his father’s gun to carry out the attack and later died by suicide at the scene.
Governor Mukerrem Unluer said the attacker entered the school carrying multiple weapons in a bag and opened fire indiscriminately in two classrooms.
Interior Minister Mustafa Sifci said the incident was not an act of terrorism but rather a personally motivated attack.
