Balaganj and Osmaninagar Expatriates Hold Annual Picnic in New York

The annual picnic of the Balaganj and Osmaninagar Probashi Kalyan Society was held in a festive atmosphere in New York. The event took place on Sunday, August 16, at Belmont Lake State Park in New York.

The day-long program began at 10:30 a.m. with the distribution of breakfast. The opening ceremony was held at noon with the recitation of the Holy Quran, the national anthem of Bangladesh and the hoisting of the national flag.

One of the main attractions of the picnic was a photo session in matching T-shirts, along with various sports and recreational activities. Lunch was served from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The afternoon program included guest introductions and speeches. Time was also set aside for Zuhr prayers as part of the day-long event.

A raffle draw was held at 5:00 p.m., followed by the distribution of prizes among the winners.

Dr. Mustaq Ahmed Bar Bhuiya inaugurated the picnic in the morning. Dr. Junnun Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest, while Dr. Azadur Rahman Mia delivered a speech. The program was conducted by the organization’s General Secretary Abdur Rob Kawsar and Convener Toufiq Alam. The overall event was supervised by the organization’s President Mizanur Rahman Mizan.

Expatriates from Balaganj and Osmaninagar attended the picnic with their families. The day-long gathering further strengthened the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and community among the participants.

Alongside the festivities, expatriates exchanged views on various activities of the organization and its future plans.

The organizers said that strengthening communication, unity and mutual bonds among people from Balaganj and Osmaninagar living abroad was one of the main objectives of organizing such events.
