Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will not engage in a confrontation with the country’s military or Army Chief Asim Munir if he is released from prison, according to his close aide and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Zulfiqar Bukhari.

Speaking to Reuters, Bukhari said Khan would not take any action after his release that could harm the country. Despite personal grievances and pain, he would avoid a direct confrontation with the military leadership in the broader interest of Pakistan, Bukhari said.

Bukhari’s comments are being seen as a possible indication of a shift in PTI’s political position. The party has been locked in a prolonged dispute with Pakistan’s military leadership.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has been taken to a hospital for medical treatment. However, Khan’s own position on his relationship with the military and its leadership remains unclear.
