Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran will not surrender to US pressure or what he described as “American bullying” under any circumstances.

Pezeshkian said Iran is currently in a position of strength and dignity, making this the right time to end the ongoing war. However, he warned that any new attack against Iran would receive a strong response.

Speaking at the 31st general meeting of the Islamic Association of the Iranian Medical Society on Friday (August 21), Pezeshkian made the remarks, according to Iran’s Students News Agency (ISNA). Al Jazeera also reported on his comments.

Pezeshkian said the recent agreement reached through negotiations was a major achievement for Iran. He added that the country’s Supreme National Security Council had unanimously approved the agreement.

According to the Iranian president, there was nothing in the agreement that suggested surrender. Instead, he said, the commitments were made by the other side.

On peace, Pezeshkian said Tehran does not want to reject peace but must remain alert to any possible deception or betrayal.

“Under no circumstances will we bow to American bullying. We will stand against them until our last breath and respond firmly,” he said.

Pezeshkian said the war would eventually have to end, and it would be better to end it now while Iran remains in a position of strength and dignity.

He also claimed that the world is now recognizing Iran’s victory. He accused the United States of violating international rules by attacking Iranian schools, hospitals and infrastructure.

At the same time, Pezeshkian acknowledged that inflation and economic pressure had increased in Iran because of the war and the naval blockade. He urged those supporting the conflict to also accept its economic costs.

“When we chant slogans in favor of war, we must also accept the hardships that come with it,” he said.
