Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Pakistan, saying Ankara will continue to stand by Islamabad under all circumstances.

The remarks came during a joint press conference following talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Istanbul on Saturday.

The two leaders pledged to further strengthen bilateral relations and work towards increasing annual trade between the two countries to US$5 billion. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding strategic cooperation while promoting regional peace and economic development.

Speaking at the press conference, Erdoğan praised Pakistan’s contribution to efforts related to the implementation of the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, describing it as a positive step towards peace and stability in the Middle East. He also commended Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace, prosperity and economic progress.

Erdoğan said the meeting also covered trade, investment, energy, information technology, transportation, critical minerals and defence cooperation. Both sides expressed confidence that closer collaboration in these sectors would further strengthen the long-standing partnership between Türkiye and Pakistan.
