Twenty-three foreign sailors have been rescued safely after a bulk carrier was damaged in a collision with another vessel north of Iran’s Qeshm Island.

According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, the accident occurred early Tuesday near the coast of Bandar Abbas. The collision severely damaged the middle section of the bulk carrier, causing water to flood the vessel. The captain then ordered the crew to abandon ship.

Rescue teams, coordinated by the Maritime Search and Rescue Center, quickly arrived at the scene and safely evacuated all 23 crew members. They were later transferred to Qeshm Island. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Meanwhile, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that explosions were heard the same day in the Bandar Abbas, Kish Island, and Qeshm Island areas. However, authorities have not confirmed any direct link between those incidents and the ship collision.
