Iran and the United States have reached a final agreement aimed at ending hostilities and easing tensions between the two countries. The deal came into effect after U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a memorandum of understanding, according to reports by Al Jazeera and CNN.

The nuclear issue was the central focus of the negotiations. Reports said progress was made after Iran agreed to key U.S. conditions regarding its nuclear program.

Under the agreement, Iran has reaffirmed that it will neither develop nor acquire nuclear weapons. The two countries have also agreed on a mutually accepted process for the disposal of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium. The process will be carried out according to a timetable outlined in the agreement and with the consent of both sides.

The memorandum states that the enriched uranium will be downblended at designated facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), using the minimum necessary procedures. The two sides have also agreed to continue discussions on uranium enrichment within a framework that will form part of a future comprehensive agreement.

In addition, Iran and the United States will discuss other issues related to Iran’s civilian nuclear needs. The document emphasizes the importance of resolving outstanding nuclear matters and expresses both countries’ commitment to addressing them through immediate negotiations.

Following months of talks, Trump and Pezeshkian signed the memorandum electronically. The implementation timeline for the agreement officially began once both leaders signed the document.
