Iran has announced that it has no plans for a new round of negotiations with the United States, delivering a firm stance amid rising tensions.

The statement came from Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, according to Al Jazeera. He said, “At this moment, we have no plans regarding the timing, location, or framework for any future talks.”

Despite Tehran rejecting the proposal, a US delegation is heading to Islamabad for potential discussions. The delegation is reportedly led by US Vice President J.D. Vance. At least two US military aircraft have already landed in Islamabad, believed to be carrying senior officials.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said in a social media post that his “representatives” would arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening (April 20). Shortly after, the White House confirmed that Vance would lead the delegation.

A White House official also told BBC that the delegation includes Trump’s advisor Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, both of whom had participated in previous rounds of talks.

Previously, Iran had indicated willingness to engage in discussions if certain “red lines” were respected. Citing a senior Iranian lawmaker, Al Jazeera reported that Tehran expects the US to honor those limits, though the specific conditions have not been disclosed.
