Nahida Sultana Brishti, a Bangladeshi student who had been missing in the United States, has also been found dead. She had been missing since April 16. Brishti was a student of the 13th batch of the Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (ACCE) department at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) and was pursuing her PhD at the University of South Florida (USF).

The news was confirmed on Saturday (April 25) by her brother, Zahid Hasan Pranto, through a Facebook post.

In his post, he wrote, ‘My sister is no more. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un.’

Earlier, the body of another missing Bangladeshi PhD student, Jamil Ahmed Limon (27), was recovered by Hillsborough County police in Florida. In connection with the incident, Limon’s roommate, Hisham Saleh Abugharbiyah (26), was arrested.

Jamil Ahmed Limon was pursuing a PhD in Geography, Environment, and Policy at USF. Nahida Sultana Brishti was also a PhD student at the same university, in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Limon was last seen at his off-campus residence on April 16. About an hour later, around 10:00 AM, Brishti was last seen at the university’s Natural and Environmental Sciences building. When they could not be reached for a long time, a friend informed the police, prompting an investigation.

Later, on Friday morning, Limon’s body was recovered from the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa. Earlier that same day, the sheriff’s office had received a call regarding a domestic violence incident at the residence of the accused, Hisham Abugharbiyah.
