Thousands of people marched in Minneapolis on Saturday to protest against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a woman, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, was shot and killed by an ICE agent earlier in the week.

City officials reported that around 30 people were arrested over the weekend protests, and one police officer sustained minor injuries after being struck by ice. Despite bitterly cold weather, demonstrators gathered in Minneapolis, while similar anti-ICE protests also occurred in cities including Austin, Seattle, New York, and Los Angeles.

Videos showed protesters using lights, whistles, and drums, with some throwing snow, ice, and rocks at law enforcement and vehicles. Officials said no serious injuries were reported, and those arrested were later released.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey praised the majority of protesters for remaining peaceful but warned that individuals causing property damage or endangering others would face arrest. Police said hundreds of demonstrators had gathered outside hotels believed to be housing ICE agents, with reports of property damage at some locations.

Three Minnesota Congresswomen—Ilhan Omar, Kelly Morrison, and Angie Craig—attempted to tour a local ICE facility on Saturday. They reported being initially allowed entry but were later asked to leave. The lawmakers said ICE and the Department of Homeland Security were obstructing congressional oversight.

The fatal incident occurred when ICE agents approached Good’s vehicle during enforcement activity. According to authorities, the agent fired in self-defense after alleging she tried to drive at him, a claim disputed by Minneapolis officials. The FBI and Minnesota authorities have launched investigations into the shooting.

Public frustration over ICE operations in Minnesota has been mounting, and the incident has intensified nationwide protests against the agency’s enforcement tactics.
