The United Arab Emirates has suspended all trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran until further notice, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The decision comes amid escalating regional tensions and follows allegations regarding the current state of economic relations between the UAE and Iran.

UAE rejects claims over economic ties

Afra Al Hameli, director of the Strategic Communications Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rejected allegations concerning the status of the country’s economic relationship with Iran.

She reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation and regional integration, describing them as essential to promoting peace, stability and prosperity across the region.

Transactions halted amid regional tensions

Al Hameli said the suspension of all trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran was imposed in response to regional developments that threaten regional and international peace and security.

The measures will remain in effect until further notice.

The UAE government said the decision was aimed at safeguarding regional stability and protecting the integrity of the international financial system.

UAE stresses commitment to international standards

Al Hameli said the UAE remains committed to protecting the integrity of the international financial system and complying with international law and globally recognised standards.

The ministry also said the UAE would continue supporting measures designed to safeguard regional and international financial stability.

The suspension marks a significant change in the UAE’s economic dealings with Iran, which have historically included substantial commercial and financial links. The latest decision comes as tensions across the region continue to intensify.
