Western New York BNP Forum Approves 71-Member Executive Committee

The Bangladesh Nationalist Forum (BNF) in Western New York has approved a 71-member partial executive committee for a two-year term through a voice vote, with leaders also directing the organization to form a full 101-member committee within the next three months.

Imtiaz Ahmed Belal of Sunamganj was elected president, while Abu Jafar Farazi of Barishal was chosen as general secretary. Mohammad Fakhr Uddin of Sylhet was elected senior vice president, and Suman Ahmed of Sunamganj became senior joint general secretary.

Farid Khandakar Akhtar of Sylhet, Abdul Wahed Tamjid and Abedur Rahman Bablu of Moulvibazar were elected as organizing secretaries. Abul Hasan Mohammad Noman of Sylhet was named treasurer, Abdal Hossain of Dhaka became office secretary, while Farid Hossain of Sylhet and Gias Uddin Khan of Moulvibazar were elected publicity secretary and assistant publicity secretary, respectively.

The committee also includes 17 vice presidents, five joint general secretaries, and office bearers responsible for legal affairs, international affairs, student affairs, women’s affairs, science and technology, youth affairs, information and research, communications, religious affairs, and cultural and sports activities. In addition, dozens of members representing districts across Bangladesh, including Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Chattogram, Barishal, Dhaka, Cumilla and Brahmanbaria, were included in the executive body.

Leaders of the newly formed committee said they would work to strengthen unity within the Bangladeshi community in the United States, promote democratic values, and expand the forum’s organizational activities. They also pledged to complete the formation of the 101-member full executive committee within the stipulated three-month period to further strengthen the organization’s presence in Western New York.
