Bangladesh Society Inc. Registers Over 33,000 Voters Ahead of 2026 Election

Voter registration for the 2026 election of Bangladesh Society Inc., one of the largest and oldest Bangladeshi-American social and cultural organizations in the United States, has officially concluded. The election is scheduled to be held on October 18, 2026.

The voter registration period ended on June 30, with both competing panels submitting their registration forms by the official deadline of 6:00 p.m.

According to figures released by the two panels, a total of 33,564 voters have registered for this year’s election. Of them, 17,370 registered under the Kunu-Firoz Panel, while 16,194 registered under the Selim-Ali Panel.

Each general voter paid a registration fee of US$20, generating a total of US$671,280 in registration fees, equivalent to more than BDT 80 million.

Bangladesh Society Inc., a New York-based non-profit organization, has long served as a leading platform for the Bangladeshi diaspora in the United States. It promotes the Bengali language, culture, and heritage while organizing celebrations of Pohela Boishakh, Bangladesh’s Independence Day, Victory Day, Eid, and other cultural and religious events.

The organization also provides financial, administrative, and humanitarian assistance to community members, including support for repatriating the remains of deceased Bangladeshis or arranging local burials, as well as responding to emergencies affecting the community.

The October 18 election will feature a contest between the Kunu-Firoz Panel and the Selim-Ali Panel. The election has already attracted significant attention and interest among the Bangladeshi-American community in New York.
