Austria Records Historic 41°C as Intense Heatwave Sweeps the Country

Austria has recorded its highest-ever temperature of 41 degrees Celsius as an intense heatwave grips the country, according to local media reports citing the national weather service, GeoSphere Austria.

The record temperature was measured in the Stammersdorf district of Vienna, marking the highest temperature ever officially recorded in Austria.

Meteorologists said the heatwave is expected to peak on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures likely to rise even further on Wednesday.

In response to the extreme weather, GeoSphere Austria has issued its highest-level red alert for Vienna, northern Burgenland, and northeastern Lower Austria.

The weather agency also reported that temperatures have exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in several other parts of the country.

Health officials have urged residents to take precautions against the extreme heat, including staying hydrated, avoiding unnecessary outdoor activities during peak hours, and paying special attention to vulnerable groups such as the elderly and young children.
