Bangladesh national football team captain Jamal Bhuyan received a warm reception from Bangladeshi expatriates during a community event held in New York.

The gathering, titled “Jamal Bhuyan New York Kick-Off,” took place on June 27 at a restaurant in Jackson Heights and was organized by sports-focused digital platform Gamelify.xyz. The event attracted football enthusiasts of all ages who had the opportunity to meet the national team skipper, take photographs, and engage with him in person.

Speaking at the event, Bhuyan shared his vision for the future of Bangladeshi football, emphasizing the need for stronger club structures and grassroots development. He said the country should focus on building at least ten competitive clubs with international-standard facilities, including dedicated stadiums, gyms, and youth academies.

The midfielder also stressed the importance of expanding football activities beyond Dhaka and investing in district- and upazila-level infrastructure to identify and nurture young talent. According to Bhuyan, Bangladesh needs a long-term football development strategy spanning at least two decades to achieve sustainable progress.

He further highlighted the need to create pathways for talented local players to compete in European leagues while encouraging footballers of Bangladeshi origin playing abroad to represent Bangladesh. Such initiatives, he said, would help build a stronger and more competitive national team.

Gamelify.xyz Chairman Mashiyur Rahman said the organization is working to promote football within the Bangladeshi community and inspire younger generations to engage with the sport. He noted that the platform organizes weekly football quizzes, provides World Cup-related information, and supports youth football training programs in Seattle.

Rahman added that the organization aims to expand similar football development initiatives to Bangladeshi communities across different states in the United States, with support from football stakeholders and the media.

The event was attended by community leaders, educators, journalists, and football fans from across the New York metropolitan area.
