A drone attack has occurred at the Ras Tanura oil refinery, owned by Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil giant, Saudi Aramco. Following the attack, the refinery’s operations have been temporarily suspended for safety reasons. On Monday (March 2), news agency Reuters confirmed this information in a report.

Videos circulating on social media show black smoke rising from the refinery. However, sources say the fire was brought under control within a short time.

A source from Aramco stated that the drone attack took place after Tehran began retaliatory actions across the region in response to recent U.S. and Israeli strikes in Iran.

According to an industry source, the drone attack targeted the Ras Tanura oil refinery following Tehran’s regional retaliation against the U.S. and Israeli strikes.

Located along the Gulf coast, the Ras Tanura oil refinery is one of the largest in the Middle East. It processes nearly 550,000 barrels of crude oil daily and serves as a key export terminal for Saudi Arabia’s crude oil.
