Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Gathering and Traditional Chattogram Mezban Held in New York

A religious gathering marking Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) along with a traditional Chattogram-style Mezban was held in New York on Sunday.

The event was organized by the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Organizing Committee of North America, Inc. at Nabanna Party Hall in Jackson Heights.

Maulana Dr. Syed Ershad Ahmed Al-Bokhari, founder and president of the Islamic Research Center in Dinajpur, Bangladesh, attended the event as the chief guest. Dr. Mufti Syed Ansarul Karim Al-Azhari, imam of Belal Mosque in Brooklyn, New York, was the keynote speaker.

Shahjahan Siraji, chief adviser to the organization, along with members of its advisory council and a large number of Muslim community members, attended the program.

The event was presided over by Allama Jalal Siddiqui, founder of Gausia Jame Mosque in the Bronx and former president of the Ulama Society USA. Hafiz Muhit Zaman performed naat during the program.

Speakers discussed the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as well as the significance of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.

Following the religious gathering, guests and participants were served Mezban a traditional communal feast from Chattogram, Bangladesh.

Ali Akbar (Bappy) served as the convener of the organizing committee, while Mir Kader Russell was the chief coordinator. Maulana Ayub Ansari served as member secretary.

Others involved in organizing the event included Iqbal Hossain, Mohiuddin Chowdhury Khokon, Mokaddar Billah, Mohammad Sarwarul Alam, Mohammad Kaisar, Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan, Mohammad Zaman, Abdul Hamid, Mohammad Didar, Mohammad Golam Nabi Hossain, Harun Mia and Nurul Haque, among others.

The organizers said such events play an important role in preserving religious and cultural traditions among expatriate Bangladeshis while promoting harmony, friendship and community solidarity among members of the Bangladeshi community in North America.
