Iran has not sent any delegation to Pakistan so far, according to the country’s state news agency IRNA. The information was shared in a message published on its Telegram channel on Tuesday (April 21).
IRNA stated that no high-level, mid-level, or follow-up delegation has been dispatched from Tehran to Islamabad. Reports circulating in various international and regional media about Iranian representatives traveling to, arriving in, or planning a visit to Islamabad have been described as rumors.
Earlier, in a post on the Truth Social platform, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that a deal between the United States and Iran could take place in Pakistan on Tuesday. His remarks fueled speculation about a possible visit by an Iranian delegation to Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Iranian lawmaker and member of the National Security Commission Mohammad Reza Mohseni said there is currently no possibility of talks with the United States. In an interview with Mehr News Agency on Tuesday, he described the U.S. as “overly demanding” and accused it of pursuing hidden agendas for domestic interests.
He added that, considering recent tensions, acts of aggression, and past negotiation experiences, Iran has decided to halt discussions with the United States for now.
However, diplomatic efforts continue. Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has urged Iran to engage in dialogue with the United States. Speaking ahead of a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels, he said Tehran should take advantage of any opportunity for talks in Islamabad.
He also noted that the U.S. Vice President is prepared to visit Islamabad to participate in discussions, emphasizing that constructive dialogue is essential to reduce tensions in the interest of the Iranian people.
