Nepalese police confirmed on Tuesday that three foreign nationals a British tourist, a Chinese woman, and an Indian man were among the 19 people who died in a bus crash in the Himalayan region on Monday.

The bus, traveling from the tourist city of Pokhara to the capital, Kathmandu, plunged more than 200 meters (655 feet) into the icy Trishuli River in Dhading district during the early hours of Monday morning.

Police initially confirmed 19 fatalities on Monday, and on Tuesday they released further details about the victims. “We have now identified all those who died,” senior local police officer Prakash Dahal told AFP.
There were 44 people on board at the time of the accident, including five foreigners. Two other foreign passengers a Chinese citizen and a New Zealander were injured and are receiving medical treatment.

Nepal has witnessed several deadly road accidents in recent years, often attributed to narrow mountain roads, poorly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving. In July 2024, two buses carrying more than 50 passengers were swept off the highway into the same river following a landslide.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the latest crash.
