Washington: US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 33%, the lowest level of his current presidency, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The survey found that 64% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s performance. His approval rating declined from 35% in an earlier poll this month.

The poll also showed growing concern over the US conflict with Iran. About 80% of Americans said they expect US involvement in the conflict to continue for an extended period, while only 16% believed it would end within a few weeks.

Rising gasoline prices and concerns over the economic impact of the conflict are also weighing on Trump’s standing. Only about one in five Americans said the war with Iran has been worth the cost.

The poll found Democrats holding a slight advantage over Republicans on economic issues, with 38% saying Democrats would handle the economy better compared with 35% for Republicans.

On immigration, Republicans remained slightly ahead, with 40% of registered voters preferring the party’s approach compared with 38% for Democrats. The survey was conducted online among 1,166 US adults and has a margin of error of three percentage points.
