Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna has warned that President Donald Trump could face legal action over U.S. military strikes on Iran, arguing that the operation violates Congress’ recently approved War Powers resolution.
In a post on X, Khanna said, “President Trump must end this war immediately. If he refuses, we are prepared to go to court to enforce the Constitution.”
The warning came after the U.S. Senate passed a War Powers resolution by a 50-48 vote on Tuesday, following the House of Representatives’ approval of similar legislation on June 3.
The resolution directs the president to withdraw U.S. armed forces from hostilities against Iran unless Congress formally declares war or provides specific authorization for further military action.
