Ahnaf Abrar Morshed Wamik (21), a Bangladeshi-Canadian student, has died in a road accident in Scarborough, Toronto, Canada. He was a student at McMaster University.
The accident occurred on Sunday (April 5) around 3:00 PM at the intersection of Danforth Avenue and Byng Avenue.
According to local police and media sources, Wamik was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound when a Toyota Highlander made a left turn and collided with his motorcycle. The motorcycle then lost control and hit a parked car nearby. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but was declared dead by the doctors.
Police said the driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The deceased, Wamik, was the only child of Morshedur Rahman Mamun and Rownak Jahan Shanta, who live in Toronto. His father works in a private company, and his mother is employed at a local educational institution.
Wamik’s untimely death has cast a shadow of grief over his family and the local Bangladeshi community. Relatives and acquaintances remember him as cheerful and talented.
