The event took place on April 27 at Green Touch in Jackson Heights, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Despite short notice, the gathering saw active participation from literary figures, making the program lively and engaging.
Presided over by social worker K. M. Fazlul Haque and hosted by Sohel Hamid, the session opened with remarks welcoming the Bengali New Year and emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to strengthen literary and cultural development within the community.
The program featured a variety of literary presentations, including self-written poetry, recitations, and discussions. Participants included Sohel Hamid, who presented his own poetry, along with recitations by M. A. Sadek and G. M. Faruk Khan. Nasirul Alam Pantha performed both a poem and a short verse, while poet and singer Nazrul Islam presented original poems along with a musical performance that captivated the audience.
Shah Shahidul Haque, President of World Human Rights Development USA, spoke on the importance of promoting healthy literary and cultural practices. Another speaker, Md. Shah Alam, welcomed the initiative and praised the organization’s efforts in promoting Bengali literature abroad.
A special segment on Bengali pronunciation, presented by recitation artist G. M. Faruk Khan, received strong appreciation from attendees.
