A special prayer and Milad gathering was held in New York to observe the sacred occasion of Ashura, drawing a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates and members of the local Muslim community.

The event took place on June 25 at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, where participants reflected on the historic tragedy of Karbala and the sacrifice of Imam Hussain, his family members, and companions.

The program was presided over by Gias Ahmed, president of the Jackson Heights Bangladeshi Business Association, and moderated by Maulana Muhammad Waliullah Atikur Rahman. Syed Mashuq Moinuddin attended as the chief guest, while Syed Ashiq Rahman served as the keynote speaker. Dulal Behedu was present as a special guest.

Opening remarks were delivered by Syed Faiz Haramain Khalilullah, and the main discussion was presented by Syed Mutawakkil Billah Rabbani.

Speakers highlighted the significance of the events of Karbala on the 10th of Muharram in 61 AH, describing them as a timeless symbol of truth, justice, and resistance against oppression. They noted that Imam Hussain’s steadfast commitment to justice and refusal to submit to tyranny continues to inspire people around the world.

The speakers also emphasized that the ideals of Karbala encourage individuals to stand against injustice, uphold moral values, and work toward a just society. They said such community gatherings play an important role in passing these values on to younger generations growing up abroad.

The event concluded with special prayers seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the global Muslim community, while participants reiterated the importance of preserving and promoting the lessons of Karbala among future generations.
