The United States has announced the conclusion of its military campaign against Iran, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating that Washington is now prioritizing peace over further conflict.

Speaking at a White House briefing on Tuesday (May 5), Rubio confirmed that the joint U.S.-Israel operation, named “Operation Epic Fury,” has officially ended after achieving its intended objectives. He emphasized that the United States is no longer seeking escalation.

“Operation Epic Fury has concluded. We have accomplished our goals. We do not want any new tensions. The path to peace is now our priority,” Rubio said.

He added that the U.S. administration is interested in reaching a diplomatic agreement. According to a report by Reuters on Wednesday (May 6), a 14-point agreement could be signed between the two sides, potentially bringing the conflict to a halt. As part of such an understanding, Iran may reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the end of another military initiative, “Project Freedom,” which had been launched to ensure the safe passage of vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.

The developments raise questions about whether the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran has effectively come to an end. Rubio reiterated that while the military phase of “Operation Epic Fury” is over, the broader goal now is to secure a peaceful resolution. “We do not seek new conflict. The President wants an agreement,” he said.

Rubio also highlighted ongoing mediation efforts by Pakistan to facilitate direct talks between Iran and the United States. The first round of discussions, held in Islamabad last month, ended without a breakthrough, though both sides have since put forward new proposals.
